One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band: a Mini- Book Review

I love rock bios, and I have to say that this is one is one of the best I’ve ever read. The author patches together excerpts from hundreds of interviews to do a topical gathering of perspectives, similar to an ethnography, rather than a sequential telling of events from one point of view. The result is a deeper understanding of the musicians and their dynamics as a band that allows you to more fully appreciate the music and to wonder at the series of happenchance that took this band from good to great.
